Founded in 1893 Newtonmore Golf Club, with its impeccably kept course, is beloved by locals and consistently thrills visitors who discover its charms and challenges for the first time.
The course was originally designed with nine holes. In 1896 legendary St Andrews golf professional and triple winner of early Open titles, Tom Morris, declared Newtonmore was one of the best inland courses he had played. He took a keen interest in the Club and tweaked the layout a little. Over the following years other golfing professionals improved and extended the course, which was finally lengthened to 18 holes in 1906.
A year later renowned course designer James Braid won a match on the course, described it as “excellent” and eventually added his own personal touches to the course design.
With such a pedigree, Newtonmore Golf Club now offers a golfing experience par excellence in an unparalleled setting.
